I have purchased  3 Sunn Amp heads off of E-Bay.
Sunn   2000S
Sunn   Concert Bass
Sunn   1200S (Hybrid from the late 90's/early 00's

I've also purchased a Fender American NOS P Bass, Gretsch Duo-Jet Junior Bass and a Fender American Deluxe Stratocaster off of E-Bay
as well as a couple of Sunn footswitches (two of which I have for sale now).

Key to buying off of E-Bay IMO is to only buy from sellers that have a significant number of sales and a 100% - 99.9% Positive feedback rating.
Just my $ .02

Buying amps on ebay can be a risky proposition.  I bought a 67 Sentura II that was suppose to be in great working condition.  I paid $525 including the shipping...Well...it didn't work as advertised and the guy disappeared after the sale so i couldn't get him to take it back.  It became a project amp...and after sinking almost $300 more into it (  14 capactors, 3 resistors, new tube set, a new reverb tank, and hardware), it now works great...but my final cost for the head is now over $800.

I just bought an amp, And it works just as described. As long as the seller has a good number of positive feedback im pretty sure its a safe buy.

This guy had a lot of positive feedbacks, but on this item he either didn't know squat about amps, or was very dishonest...I choose the latter.

I have never bought an amp on ebay, but sold 3,and got pretty good money for them, and made good profit.

My own opinion is stuff is just too expensive there. Better to keep your eye out locally, even CraigsList,as long as can get to the item and try it out.  Will usually pay less money, and no surprises.
