Thread title kind of says it all.  If you had to choose one, would you rather have stacked high cabs or cabs that go wide?  I prefer wide over high for some reason.  I think it's because I like to make a semi-circle around the drums.  Now if I could choose both, stacked high in a semi-circle around the drums is the way to go, but I'm broke and can't afford to do that.  If these layouts are unclear, I'll post some pictures about what I mean.

Depends. I like the look of wide for bass gear, I think because most bass cabs are sort of in that in between height, to where if you stacked them vertically, they'd just end up stupid tall. However, for guitar amps, tall, because it's the look of the Marshall full stack, and that just looks cool.

Or you can be a badass like Noel Redding, and do both:
