FS: 1972 Sunn Bass Transducer made by Eminence
« on: July 19, 2010, 05:00:13 pm »
This speaker is identical to the one in my Sunn Studio Bass (see other listing) but I when I had it reconed the tech set it for 8 ohms so I could use it in my 115V cabinet while the Vega was being rebuilt. This speaker was even made during the same week (35th) of 1972 as the one in my Studio Bass.

It is very light (7+ lbs) relative to most other speakers due to the alnico material. Yet it sounded absolutely great in my 115 cabinet.

The black label on the back of the speaker fell off, exposing the Eminence codes, but I still have it and will include it with the speaker.

I'll entertain reasonable offers but would like $35 plus shipping for it.

The 1972 catalog rates the Studio Bass amplifier at 50 watts but doesn't say anything about the speaker capacity.

The professional speaker tech who rebuilds speakers for me (including this one) and many of the best vintage and other shops in the St. Louis area said this speaker should handle more than 50 watts, maybe as high as 75.

I agree you need the higher capacity for your Beta.  This speaker sounds sweet but wouldn't survive beyond modest volume - band practices or small venues, for example.
