2000S Cabinet Handle Style
« on: December 29, 2010, 05:41:54 pm »
Hi, Guys,

I'm guessing that the handles on 2000S cabinets are the same ribbed style pieces that were used for the 2000S head.

If I'm mistaken and they are the faux leather handles, please let me know.

Also, is it one handle per cabinet like the 200S, or two per cab like the 415M?

Aaron, have you had any luck with the flat-style ribbed handles and the rectangular caps that they use? I may need two or four.

Thanks in advance and regards,

2000S cabs (at least all of mine) have two handles, I'm about 95% sure on the left side as you face the cabinet, perpendicular to the baffle, and I think all are made of ribbed rubber but one of them may have leather. I'll check the next time I'm at the shop. I have 2000S heads that have both ribbed and leather handles. I think the "leather" handles are real leather, not faux leather, but again I don't have one handy to check, one of the "leather" ones is cracked so I should be able to tell.

I think the earlier cabs just had the one handle like the 200s and I have noticed the later 2000s having two. I would go with the two handle setup for sure. Even on the 200s cabs that one handle becomes pretty pointless. Not sure about if they ever used the padded handles but my vote is to go with the square corner rubber ones if you can find them. I know I could use a few myself.

Thanks, Guys,

If either of you comes up with a more definitive call, it would be appreciated.

Aaron has the leather handles available, and says that he's working on getting the ribbed handles for us, too.

Thanks again, and warmest...

I just happened to finish reading "Jimi Hendrix Gear," which has photos of a Noel Redding 2000S rig. Judging from the older-style grill cloth, it's a 1968 or early 1969 model.  As Ed noted, if you are facing the front of the cabinet the handles are on the left side.  Although I can't tell whether they're the older rubber handles or the early '70s leather ones, I'd bet on the rubber handles. And there are two of them, mounted parallel with the bottom edge. Looks like about two handles' width of space from the top and bottom edge.

CLD,

Was that a book or a web page? How many heads and cabs did he actually play through?
