SUNN Stagemaster info wanted-(Mr. Sundholm can you
« on: September 24, 1999, 10:31:00 am »
I've posted this before, but apparently this must be one of the more less reknown models of the SUNN line.
I have in my grubby little paws, a Stagemaster combo amp with 2 12"s in it.  I like to brag and state that it has 250 watts of pure S/S power, but it's really just 125w into each channel.  This is a non-master gain/volume type amp, with very nice spring reverb, and a parametric EQ.  It shows some road wear, but overall, I'd give it a 85%+.  Oh yeah, did I mention that this thing has power?  Very reliable too.  I cannot however find out any data or info about this amp.  As an aside, I purchased this amp from Wolfe Macleod of Wolfetone Custom Pick-up fame, who got it from a Seattle based grunge band known as the "Accused", who got it from someone in Nirvana-possibly Cobain, as he was known to use this kind of stuff.  Interesting eh?  Any info would be much appreciated.  BTW, I play my Fender Telecaster through it.
Peace, Love, and Telecasters!

Hello,
The Stagemaster was designed by Bob Hick, now owner of NSI lighting and myself back in 1981 or so. You will find a db insignia on the preamp board (Don & Bob). It used a standard Sunn 20-0166 power amp which puts out 100watts into the 2 81-0126 speakers. The output knob was a compressor/gain control that regulated the power output. If you have a manual look in the back under the suggested settings and you will find "Dons favorite setting" I love this amp and still own one that use in the studio. When no other amp will get the right sound I can always find one that works with the Stagmaster or stage monster as we called it back then. I believe I still have a couple of stuffed pre-amp boards in the attic. I may have schematics and manuals.
