Keyboards in guitar amps

I have a concert lead. I noticed that there are concert keyboard amps around, but is there any reason why I can't use my concert lead with a synth or a keyboard? What do I need to be careful of?

No reason that I can think of. You'll want to make sure the distortion is off.

Most Guitar amps (exception: Sunn Coliseum amps) have a unique EQ that might not sound very good for keyboards. The closest thing to flat frequency response is usually bass and treble at zero and mids on ten. If you have enough signal, plug into the Power Amp In on the back of the amp. Speakers are another issue.

I wanted our keyboard player to use two Sorados (Stereo) for his keys in a recording session. I wanted to have more air and a better chrunch sound - B3, he`s useing a Nord electro. We used two Marschall 1960 cabs, ech of them miked with an SM57. I liked it for easy crunch sounds, lets say some kind of overdrive but we needed an extra EQ in front of the Sorados. But the sound could not vary a lot otherwise you have to change the EQ etc.That was the point where we stopped it at that session. But I think I`ll repeat this next time.

I'm an organist/keyboard player and I've only ever used guitar amps including a Concert Lead. There is no problem using them, no problem with the EQ. Also try the distortion. Chords on an organ can sound great with some overdrive. Where you might want to get particular is the cabinet. Since keys go both lower and higher than guitar, I've usually used PA cabs. Something with a 15" and a horn.

Organ can sound good with some distortion. Piano, though, sounds like crap, IMO.

Back in the 70's I used a Sunn Sentura II with two 2 x 15 cabs with JBL D-130's for my Rhodes and a VOX Continental organ.  It sounded great.  However, I now have another Sentura II with the same set up ( except JBL K-130's). My old Rhodes sounds good through it; however, my Kurzweil PC2X sounds really mid-rangy with a tinny sound.  I'm wondering if analog keyboards work well with guitar amps but not digital keyboards?
