I know this isn't a Sunn head but the technology and era are about the same so I thought I'd ask.
I got a Kustom II solid state Bass head today for $10. The guy said it wouldn't work and if I didn't get it he'd throw it out.
It's in visually fine condition, inside and out. When I got it home I plugged it into a cabinet and turned it on.
It powers on, the pilot light lights, and the cabinet kinda thumps lightly, and has the quiet hum most amps make when on.
It won't pass any signal though, nor make any sounds when I mess with knobs and whatnot. I tried the signal out as well and no signal.
When I opened it up it looked fine, no burnt looking spots, but I saw one capacitor that was not totally connected to the board.
I soldered it back and tried it again. The amp made some slight sounds while plugging a cable in, but still wouldn't pass any signal.
It also made a different kind of hum, and some weird sounds that it hadn't before.
Any ideas of what to try next? I can post pictures if it'd help.
