Sunn beta lead 1X12 I.D help
« on: July 15, 2011, 01:34:02 pm »
This amp was given to me by a friend who had quit playing guitar. The story he gave to me was  His dads Friend was a engineer Sunn and this was a prototype that never made it to production. We live in hillsboro Oregon about 30 minutes from where the sunn factory was located I have no way to prove the story true but it seems possible because I cant find another Beta lead 1X12 any where and all of the cabinets I have seen are open back vented this Cabinet is fully sealed with one 12 the only Id on the speaker is hand written all of the tolex seems to original I'm trying to get  a value for INS. and i might be selling because i have to many amps and it does not get used alot It needs a Home where it is enjoyed and used it functions perfectly and is in really great condition for its age  thanks for any help

That is one cool 1X12. Bet it sounds awesome.
I'd have to assume these are some of the best sounding S.S. combo amps ever.

Edit: Sorry for not being any help, haha.
Sunn Coliseum Bass--->Sunn 215B
Sunn Beta Bass--->Ampeg 410HLF
Sunn Beta Lead--->Marshall 4X12
2 Sunn Concert Basses
3 Fender P's, 1 Fretless J, 2 Statss, AmpegPlexiBass
OC-2 + QTrons + RATs + VTBass

It does sound killer all of my guitars are equiped with EMG 81 60 combo except my fender strat and its my opinion that active pickups sound better through solid state amps. The EMG's sound weak in my fender hot rod deluxe amp and I prefer sealed enclosures they have more crunch. It is definitely Metal/Distortion amp the clean channel isn't the best and the on board distortion/overdrive is awesome I don't use any pedals with this amp the controls took some time to get used to the bass treble and mid channels don't function like a normal amp. This is much louder then either my fender combo or my marshall JCM 100 head and 4X10 cab I love the and ill probably never sale it but I need to for space reasons and I don't gig anymore but I'm kinda a gear whore LOL

I trying to reduce the amount of gear that I have, but, should you decide to sell it, I'd be happy to take it off your hands. It wouldn't take up much room...
