This came out of a beach house garage..and it still fires up! Did it come with a front badge? and was this the factory covering? looks like the seats in grandmas delta 88!

Between 68-72/73. If you feel froggy, pull out the chassis and check out the inspection sticker.

It did come with a front badge, and it did have different grill cloth on the front of it.

I'll do that, plus it will be a good opportunity to clean out any dust or cobwebs that may be lurking.I wasnt sure if the grill was factory or not, whoever did it seemed to know what they were doing, anyway. There is a sticker inside on the back but no dates are given.anyplace in particular i should look for one? also, any guesses as to where i could get a sunn badge to replace the missing one? Id like to have this thing looking good as possible.I do have a old Sunn 2x15 cabinet i used with my old coliseum head it should sit nice on.have to pull that out of the closet. Thanks for the heads up,i'll post my findings later!

Ebay is just about your only chance of finding one. You may be able to find a screener that will do you a reproduction one, frowned on or not by the powers that be, around here... :D

I'd say it's a '68. It's not unusual for that era Sunns to just have a date and initials scribbled in grease pencil rather than an inspection sticker, and they are easy to miss and sometimes hard to discipher.
There were no "72/73" 200S's. Stick around Mammoth; you might actually learn something about these old amps...  :-D

Also, I don't think it's the "powers that be, around here" that frown on counterfeit badges as much as it's FMIC, the people that own that logo.
That said; I seriously doubt that anyone would have any legal or moral issues with somebody recreating a logo plate in order to restore a vintage amp.
Even Rickenbacker, who are notoriously rigorous and aggressive in defending their copyright will provide a factory logo for a resto project.
Provided of course that  you can prove that purpose to their satisfaction.

I must've misread the catalog section. Grouch.  :-D :-D :-D

I doubt Fender cares, they're just sitting on the name letting it rot, because they're idiots.

i don't think Fender are idiots-they bought a co., put out some inferior products w/ the sunn logo and it died a horrible death. i think they know they cant rebuild the beautys of the past and are letting it lie.

Just buy the brands from Fender; no more "cringing"!  :-D

Seriously though this thread is getting WAAAAY off topic, and I think I'm the one that inadvertently started this derail.
If anyone needs to whine some more about big, mean bully FMIC taking their ball(s) and going home it should probably be on a new thread.

Maybe the thread could be titled "Why does Fender hate Sunn Fanboys".
