Sunn Nameplate ? WTB
« on: May 30, 2019, 08:44:23 am »
I'm looking for a silver-face Sunn nameplate from the '68-'74 period to use on a cabinet I'm restoring. Can offer up to $75 for one in good condition.  What's anybody got ?

There are several different nameplates in the 68-74 period. Look at this thread:

Try to determine exactly which one was original to your cabinet.

Actually, "restoring" is not the right word.  A little back story: I've taken a stock 212LH from the late '70's and re-worked the front grill/faceplate to resemble the silver-face era cabinets with no faceplate section.  Fairly straightforward carpentry, with almost no tolex work.  I'll also swap the original Sunn 12's with 2 PMR bass speakers (freq resp 29hz - 4.25khz) This is all to finally achieve a 2 x 12" cab  to pair with a '71 200S.  I had a 2 x 12 cab custom ordered and paid for, but it never materialized. I even supplied the Fender Sunn tolex for it.  After much back and forth w Reverb, I finally got the remaining tolex back, but no cabinet. Needless to say, I have no use for the cabinet maker, regardless of his standing in the business.

So since it's not actually a stock cabinet restoration, the period correctness is not critical, as long as it's a silverface bold font.
