Now Can You Tell Me...
« on: July 27, 2011, 12:35:13 am »
(Not sure if this should go in here or not, but a topic can be moved.)

Can anyone tell me if there would actually be any difference from either case? Seeing as my Model T is a '74 and one says it's for the '72 model and the other says it's for the '72 reissue and there's another case already for the Fender Reissue...

What does Affordable Cases say about it? The first thing I would do is call them and ask what the differences are, tell them what you have, ask them if it will work, and make sure you can return it for a full refund (including return shipping) if it doesn't.
Their return policy seems a bit ambiguous, and even they suggest that you call them first;
"Please contact us to clarify any questions about the model of your equipment before placing your order".

Reading their warranty, it doesn't seem like the opinions of posters on a Sunn forum will guarantee they will take a return. I think your question is better asked of Affordable Cases rather than here; but hopefully one of the forum members will have first hand experience with them to share.  :wink:
While you have them on the phone, ask them what a "Sun Supta vintage 1968 Head" is.

By the way, was there a 1972 Model T? I thought '73 or '74 was the first year for the Model T.

And was there ever a '72 Reissue model? the only "reissue" I can think of that was a different size is the 90's Fender Model T, which is a completely different amp.

There's no Model T in the '72 catalog. The 350L and 350B were the only big tube amps.

That's what I was thinking... I was just curious if they had a point with the whole '72 thing.

It seems more like the Fender re-issue, and the original. I think the terminology is just very, very incorrect. That being said, I'd still dish out the extra bit for Clydesdale cases for mine. They built one for my Solarus and it's fantastic, plus they drove it to my house the day it was completed (I live close enough that they could do that, but pretty stellar all the same).

And how much did that case cost you? Because if it's cheaper than affordable-cases then I'm all for it, going through a group that knows their stuff.

All in, I paid about $325 Canadian. It was custom, down to the thickness of the wood, the colour, and the style (I opted for lift-off, as the extra foam would reduce the vibration from the speakers).
