Sunn Concert Keyboard
« on: June 15, 2012, 06:55:46 pm »
Hey, There is a music store selling a Sunn Concert Keyboard in my area for $300. I want to use it for guitar. I was just wondering if anyone had any opinions on this amp, and whether or not $300 is a good price for it, and also if anyone knows how much it weighs. Right now I have a Peavey revolution head, but it weighs 72 pounds, and sucks to carry around. I'm wanting to upgrade to something better that's really loud and has really nice cleans (good distortion would be a plus too, but I have plenty of pedals for that so it doesn't matter if it doesn't get distorted.

Price seems high to me. Concert series heads tend to be priced in the $100-$200 range, but maybe I'm out of touch.

As for the head itself, I don't think it has any on board distortion. It should be loud and clean. It should take pedals well. Not particularly heavy.

Thanks man, I appreciate the input. Finding well priced amps is tough.

Hopefully you didn't already "pass" on that Concert because you thought it was overpriced. It seems Sunn Concerts are still holding up well, I think based on current and actual sales values $300 is right in line, even an excellent deal if it's a nice piece;

A "fixer upper" that sold for $280 - even a basket case brought $100;

It's a Coliseum, but I think this deserves "honerable mention" as far a SS Sunn sales;

Overall, regretfully I think it's probably getting into a good time for vintage gear buyers, not so good for sellers. Those things happen when no one has any money to spend, and so many are without income.
