Repair Tech Types (not Sunn related)

I have a Farfisa organ a friend asked me to look at. The power transformer is overheating. Fuse is not blowing. I plugged it in and turned it on this morning, and heard fizzy, crackling sounds coming from the transformer. Removed the vacuum tubes, same thing. My initial thought is that the transformer itself needs to be replaced. Any thoughts?
