Possible deal on this cab.  Owner says it's 160 watts @ 4ohms.  He knows very little about it.  I'm guessing this is from the early to mid 80s.  What were the original speakers for this cab?  Any optional ones offered?  The one pic I've seen looks OK and shows the red Sunn badge on the left and 215BH in white on the right of the cross section located in the middle of the cab.  A little too far away to just go look, so I'd like to know as much as possible before I make the trip.  I sure miss the informational section here!  Thanks.

Hopefully it has EVs. Maybe JBLs, but I doubt that for a Hartzell era cab. So EVs in best case, regular case your run of the mill Sunn Transducers are in there. If it's the EVs you'll be stoked. If I didn't feel like I needed to own a Model T I would still have my Hartzell era 215B. Those speakers loved being loud.

I appreciate the info WD.  I have discovered that it has the standard speakers.  What EVs do you refer to that could have been in it, or, which newer ones would work good for the cab?  Thanks again.

I think they dropped aftermarket speaker upgrades by 1974 and just went with Sunn drivers made by Sunn by the time the 215BH came out ('79-'82?).
I don't know which, if any Sunn cabs came loaded with EV's as OEM, I think the last upgrade driver available were the CV's in the early 70's.

Thanks EB.  I've still not been able to look at it in person.  Might be next week.

If they're EVs they would be EVM-I5B Series-IIs. I always thought they were stock because the wiring and solder joints were all apparently original to me and the speakers were rated and wired as the back plate on the cab said they should be. And then again my cab was just a 215B and not a BH.

I wasn't aware EV was ever an OEM option from Sunn, does the spec plate on the cab list the wattage at 400?

Still haven't looked at the cab in person, but I did see a pic of the spec plate showing wattage @ 160.  I've since stumpled onto a 200S unloaded cab in good shape that I'm considering also (and inquired about the differences - good or bad) in this section.

I've got 2 of these and they both have Magna 158s, i.e 15" 80 watt 8 ohm drivers, in them.
Making it a 4 ohm cab at 160 watts.

If the price is right and your not actively playing out or if you are and have a crew to move them.
GET 'EM !

They sound great
