Correct D140 Speakers to use in SUNN 2x15 cab?
« on: June 08, 2001, 07:34:00 pm »
Can anyone confirm the correct D140 speakers to use if I want to change a 2x15 SUNN cabinet from the D130's to D140's? I have a pair of bottoms with D130's and BOTH a 200S head and a 2000S head.
My understanding is that the 2x15 cabs for these were physically the same except the 2000S cab used D140's?? Is this correct? If so, what is the correct ones to use? Were they 16 Ohms each and wired together to make an 8 Ohm cab...or was it something different?
I have a line on a pair of D140R 8 Ohm speakers with black dust covers? Will these work and did the original JBL cones have black centers or chrome? (wondering if reconed?)

thanks.

D140F is the correct speaker. Same magnet structure I believe, but a stiffer cone. Originals did have silver dust covers. The 2000s cab is quite a bit larger than the 200s, you can find the specs on this site. 16 ohm wired parallel for 8. Both amps used D140F(bass amp) D130s were used in guitar amps.
