I have a 1000s that uses the four RCA 6550.
The power transformer was replaced with a Hammond 273BX, Type X, 60hz, Class A, 115volt primary, 133VA. Also the GZ34 rectifiers were removed and solid state rectifier mod was added. If Somebody can confirm that the 1000s, 1200s, 1500s, 2000s all used the same power transformer and rectifiers solid-state/tube. This seems so from the catalog specs found on this site. Then I can say the Hammond 273BX has worked well as a replacment power transformer. Unless someone can suggest a better mod. If you want the schematic for the solid state rectifier mod on my 1000s I will draw it up for you and include a photograph of the actual wiring.

This is the modified schematic for the solid state diode on my 1000s and photo of the hard wiring. It works for me.
