Tube Identification for my Solarus

I've ordered the Filter Cap to eliminate the 60Hz ground hum. Someone please explain for me what the 7199 is and is this the same as a 6AN8A? I found the 12AX7, 12AU7, and EL34's at my local electronics store.

The 7199 and 6AN8A are the phase inverter tubes.  They are not the same tube and have a different pinouts (9JT and 9DA pinouts respectively).  You could probably modify your Sunn to switch which PI tube you wanted to use.  Consult with the schematics to see the difference between those which use 7199 vs. 6AN8 types.

You can order these tubes online.  I believe I got a few 7199s from Ebay, thetubestore, triode electronics, etc.  Good luck!

Why bother changing the pins? The Tube Store.com (http://store.yahoo.com/thetubestore/index.html) has NOS 6AN8's readily available.

...just a suggestion if the original poster had an interest.  It would be a hassle to change as there is so much "interference" over the PI socket.  Still, it would be an interesting academic exercise.
