concert lead breaker
« on: March 01, 2008, 01:17:34 pm »
I just got the amp but it doesn't turn on.  the red breaker pole looks to be out and I can't push it in, does this make sense?  do these poles kick out or what?  my first experience with sunn SS isn't shaping up so good.  the thing looks mint though.

continuity tested the breaker.  oh crap.  it's not the breaker.  it looks as though it's been dropped and the (I think) choke (small transformer) broke loose and pulled the red wire off the circuit board, everything else looks fine.  I'm gonna put the wire back on and light er up tomorrow(it's minus 10 celsius, i dunno, 5 ferenheit?, it's been in my truck for a few hours and started sweating when I brought it in.  I'll give it the night to dry out) and test the electrical path with a meter.  glued the choke back into place.  so we'll see.

turns out it was the polarity switch.  replaced that and it sounds great through my 212.  reverb has a ground buzz though.  should the pan be grounded to the chasis?  mine is not.  is there a way to rid the buzz?  or is that normal for these amps.  it's only there when the reverb is turned up.  non existent at high volumes with reverb off.
