4xKT88 head with a smaller chassis?
« on: November 21, 2014, 11:56:50 am »
Did Sunn ever make a four power tube, specifically KT88 heads that use the mid-size or smaller chassis as opposed to the extra wide 2000s/1000s/1200s chassis? Just trying to help someone out with this knowledge.

Hi Walt, it's Scott your amp tech.

To answer you question, yes there is such a rare bird. It's called a Coliseum PA head.
Here is a link to a couple of pictures, you can see it has much bigger transformers and 4 KT88 power tubes.

Here is another one that has a "Studio PA" name badge.

Here is the schematic.

I have seen a few of these beasts on eBay before, but I don't think they made too many of them and they are certainly not cheap.
