Requesting info on 68 Sonaro
« on: March 10, 2016, 10:46:10 pm »
Hi there, I'm new to the forum. I just have a 60 watt 68 Sonaro that I'm curious about. I bought it used a few years ago and it needed work on the bias. The tubes are still good and it works great, but it's a little banged up. I'd just like to know more about it. I'm not interested in selling, but I'm interested in what it's worth. Any info is appreciated.

Wipe that thing down man!
Obviously it's "worth" what someone is willing to pay; what did you pay for it when you bought it? "What's it worth" opinions are valueless unless the person giving that opinion is willing to shell out the cash, and you are willing to sell.
A lot of us here try to follow the vintage Sunn market, and idle speculation on value is counterproductive to determining the actual value of our Sunn gear. The best way to do get the value of your amp is to check eBay and other online services that show completed sales. There are lots of posts here where someone has posted recent completed sales.
Not easy in your case because I look regularly and rarely see Sonaro combos for sale.

This one may well be a pretty clean Sonaro chassis from a combo;

All you can tell though is that it sold for something less than $495. Keep you eye on completed sales, that is what used gear is "worth".
