Sunn Beta Lead volume wont increase past 4

Hey everyone,

I was playing my beta lead at practice the other day and we recently got another guitar player so I had to turn my amp up. I noticed that my volume doesn't increase past 4 or 5 on my master volume and I cant increase it any higher past 6 on the individual channel A volume control. Just wondering if anyone has encountered this issue or if this is kind of a normal thing with these heads. I do play it out of a 16 ohm cabinet and I know that I will lose power because of that but I would assume that the volume would still increase as i turn up the knob. Let me know your thoughts.

I'm not familiar with the Beta circuitry, but Sunn usually used linear potentiometers for their volume controls rather than audio taper pots. One result of that is that most of the volume increase happens in the first bit of rotation. The last half gives only 6dB of increase. That may be what you're dealing with.

Are both channels acting the same? Do the channel Red and Green LEDs stay at a constant brightness when you play loudly?

Sorry for the delayed response, yea both channels seems to act the same and I don't notice any dimming when im playing loudly but I honestly haven't paid attention that much to the lights.
