So as with many people here, for a long time I've been searching for a close match to the original, early Sunn grill cloth, used before the rectangular pattern (Fender-pattern) introduced in '69. For years there's been nothing, and from what I've heard the OEM (Wendell?) had some issues with making it due to some EPA concerns.
However, I think I might have found a solution, and I'd like to gauge interest.
Back during the 60s/70s, Traynor used a similar fabric on their grills. I don't know if it was dead-nuts the same, but from all the images I can find of the two types, they are quite close. Here's some examples of the Traynor and Sunn cloth:

Now, like I said, maybe not the same, but pretty close, similar vibe. I've read other places that despite the differences that show here, the cloths were virtually identical and were just mounted with a different orientation. I don't know, I haven't actually seen both in person. Anyways, this brings me to the present. Traynor has reissued some old models like the Bass Mate, and appears to be using a replica of the old grill on some of their new equipment. Here's the new stuff:
So I've been working on getting in touch with them to see if I could get the contact info for the OEM making it for them, and they've provided that to me, though they are unsure if the OEM only sells this cloth directly to them. What I'm wondering is if people would be interested in using this cloth as a replacement for the old Sunn stuff, to repair damaged grills, restore amps, etc, and most importantly, if people think it's close enough. I'll see if I can get a sample of the cloth from them, and if they'll be willing to sell in bulk.
Any and all responses welcome. If people have better photos of the old cloth and maybe traynor cloth, please post so we can get some better comparisons.
