Though I played through some SUNN amps in the early 70s, I never owned one until last night.
I went looking for an all tube combo and Sam Ash had a closeout on the T50C. At 399.00, this was a no brainer.
So, two questions....
1 I was impressed with it's sound, although the clean channel didn't seem to have the big bottom that other amps, like the Fender Vibro Verb, had. I wrote Ted Weber and he suggested his "Chicago" model to remedy this. Wondered what you guys thought about that...I use this only for recording.
I was also advised to switch out the tubes by someone who said "NOS RCA 6V6GTs, NOS RCA 12AT7s, and NOS RCA 7025s and don't bias the amp hot, have the bias at 18.5 to 20 mA. This is the sound you've heard are more recordings than I can count." Opinions?
2 Finally, I wondered if someone might tell me what happened to SUNN. Why did Fender drop them? Are they totally gone now...no hope of return?
Thanks!
