I'm looking for a manual to this thing.....

I also hear this snap or crackling......any ideas?

Finallly, it seems that the monitor channel doesn't work...maybe I just didn't hook it up right?

Any suggestions welcome.....thanks.

OK Frank......let's get you up and running. How old is this mixer?

If it's quite old you probably need a couple of our "roomies" who are tech-heads  :o to fill you in on how resistors, transistors, whiffle-dust and pheasant-under-glass all need to be replaced after leakage sets in.

As to the "dead" monitor channel, it's quite possible that if it's a mono-block 8 channel mixer, you probably don't have a monitor amp built in.......that jack should be used to run a line out to a seperate amplifier.......one that powers your monitors. :P

Actually, the model is a SUNN SX 8350....

This thing is at least 14 years old but its got alot of power....Is it too old to rebuild?

Anyone know how I can get a manual for this?

Hello Frank:
Unfortunately the SX series was discontinued after the Fender buy out. I'm not sure how many were made after but it probably wasn't more than a couple of 100 unit runs (all we had parts stocked for at the time). As far as I know, no schematics exist. That being said these units are pretty basic in design.
Let us start with a few questions.
 1. Does the crackling noise seem thermal sensitive? Worse or better when warm?
 2. Does the noise get worse with physical manipulation? If you tap it, does it crackle?
 3. Plug a cord into the "poweramp in" jack. Does it quiet down? Can you send a signal to the power amp and it sounds OK?
