sunn recording tequniques?

im about to record my model t.

anyone haveany experiance with using sm57's?


imhaving a hard time getting my amp as distroted as i want with out a crackly residue.


any help would be apreciated.

Hello:
 Welcome to the world of "hey my amp doesn't sound like that" but indeed it does. Crackley noises can be many things.  You are micing close and it is picking up edge tick from the speaker. You have chips in your voice coil. Your speaker box has buzzes and rattles. The bias on your amp is not adjusted properly. It could be that's the way the amp sounds and you need to mic it from further away to pick up a overall tone that is less focused on a peticular part of a speaker. SM 57's are cardiod mics so they are sernsitive only in a tight area. Try moving the mic around and don't be afraid to have it off-axis.

Don, an excellent party-planner you are, my friend. I've often served "popcorn in blown speaker baskets".........but never thought about serving "chips in voice coils" as you've so, creatively, done. Did you pick that up from Martha Stewart by chance??

 Why yes, chips served in a voice coil demand savory dip on a back plate. Personally I prefer flux flavor with a touch of silver and tin. I can eat a basket full. Best if served warm (100hz sine waves at about 400 watts). Surround with tinsel wire garnish. Remember, presentation is everything.
