Sunn Amplifier
« on: January 28, 2004, 02:50:53 pm »
I am new to this forum and hoping someone could help me.

I just bought a used Sunn SPL-6000 professional stereo power amp. This is a 2 channel 300W per channel or 600W mono bridged amplifier.

I hooked it up to 2 new 15" speaker cabinets an a CD player on the input channel.

What I get is a distorted sound. It seems like it has plenty of power, but the sound is fuzzy. Almost like the sound of a blown amp. All of the components are known and functioning.

I opened it up and do not see any burnt or damaged components or loose connections.

Any help would be appreciated.

My dear friend you are feeding a lot of signal to the amp input, start with the vol on your CD player on the lowest setting, crank up the SPL-6000 1/3 turn, and then try raising the vol control on your CD player , just a bit at the time, this will probably fix the distortioned sound.
