Knob Change?
« on: June 28, 2004, 09:38:19 pm »
I have seen old Model T's with knobs reading 0-10 and I have seen some reading 1-10 (look like fender knobs).

When did Sunn change the knobs? Or has someone just put Fender knobs on there amp?

Early Sunn amp knobs just had an arrow on the knob and numerals on the faceplate (pre-1967). After that, the tube amps had knobs that were numbered 0-10 (these were made by Rogan). If you find a Sunn tube amp with knobs numbered 1-10, then it's very likely that the original knobs were lost or damaged and replaced by Fender knobs that are nearly identical except for the numerals.
Good Luck!

It's worthwhile to note that on Sunn knobs, the set screw is between the 0 and the 10. On the pointer knobs, the set screw is opposite the pointer. I found some Rogan knobs at a surplus electronics place that had the set screw at 6. Music Man amps used Rogan knobs that are identical to Sunn knobs. The Fender 1-10 knobs are have a slightly larger diameter skirt, about 1/16". I have an old Rogan Brothers catalog with a page describing the Sunn Knobs.
