« on: October 31, 2000, 11:57:00 pm »
Does anyone have info on the model 1000S I own. It seems difficult to get any info or schematics for this model. All i know is that it sounds great.

Any Info on SUNN 1000S

Mark;
I find the 1000S in both my 1968 and 1969 Sunn catalogs. The 1000S put out 120 watts RMS with a tube compliment of 4-KT88's output tubes (similar to 6550's), 2-GZ34's (5AR4's) rectifier tubes, 1-6AN8, 1-12AU7 and 1-7025 (a low-noise 12AX7). It was designed for guitar and mated with two, 2x15 cabs utilizing JBL D15S and one JBL LE100S high frequency drivers in each. I gather that one speaker cab would suffice to handle the power, but two cabs gave better coverage, less distortion and generally looked cooler. The catalogs say that the amp was developed in San Francisco with ideas and testing by the Grateful Dead, Jefferson Airplane, Pete Townshend and Jimi Hendrix. How's that for provenence? It's essentially a 2000S with vibrato and reverb and voiced for guitar. As owner of a 2000S I can imagine how great your 1000S amp sounds! Enjoy!
Oh, if you ever want to sell yours, send me an e-mail! I love Sunn tube gear!

Good Luck!
Ryan
