Sunn SR4100
« on: September 05, 2000, 10:07:00 am »
Hello,

I came upon a Sunn SR-4100 (4-channel mixer amp) that has been sitting in a church attic for the past 10 years. Being an acoustic player, I am new to the world of amplification. I am looking for some advice on how to hook up the monitor?
On the back where you make the connections there is a socket for monitor in, and a socket for monitor out. When I plug my speaker into the monitor output jack I do not get any sound. Is there something wrong with my unit or do I need to have something going into the monitor input jack before it will work?

Thanks for the help,

Jim

Hello:
The monitor output you refer too is a line level signal. The 4100 only has one 100watt amp that defaults to the main out through the EQ. It will handle a 4 ohm load so plug in one main 8ohm speaker and one 8ohm monitor into the speaker output jacks, EQ and your done. Otherwise it requires another amp and EQ. I used to use an SGA310 amp in conjuction with the SR for a full PA.
