2000s for sale
« on: August 29, 2000, 10:19:00 am »
Hi, this is my first time posting here.
I have a 2000s and I hate to sell it, but this amp is really asking to be played.  I have created incredible tone in many bands using it, but now I am a guitar player.

Anyway, if anyone has any advice on what they think it might be worth I would appreciate it.  In previous posts I saw that people have bought them for around $400.  Does that sound right?

God, I've loved that amp.

Thanks

-Chris

I paid $400 for mine 2 yrs ago.  I think the price is real fair.  Too bad you have to sell it, but I have made the same decision in the past.  Its a shame to have to sell such a
great amp , but if they are not being played?  I sold my Acoustic 360 for exactly the same reason after I got the Sunn.
A World without music would be WRONG!

I may be interested in buying your 2000s, but I am concerned about how it would work with my Ampeg SVT cab. I am used to a 200+ watt amp, and what is the 2000s, 120watts? Any thoughts?

As far as being a 120 watt amp, Noel Redding used two of these heads in concert unmiked!   the Sunn shakes the house.  At louder volumes when the tubes are pushed and sounding their best, I've had NO problem playing with 2 marshall half-stacks in a very loud band.  Once I had an amp tech offer me a 1000 watt solid-state head for it.  I said "no."

Back in the late 60's, I had the option of buying a 2000 or a Kustom 6-15 set-up for the same price.   Unfortunately, I took the Kustoms.   Three months later I was back in the store negotiating a trade in.   I bought two 2000's w/cabs and never regretted it.   I use a Rick hollow-body bass and have a few processors and the sound is incredible.   I could make you sxxx your pants at 40 feet!   I went one on one with the Ampeg 360/SVT with one 2000 in a music store I built.   We both used Ricks.   I'd love to find an old flip-top B-15 or B-18 by Ampeg for studio work but that 360/SVT wasn't even a close second in a two horse race!   I still drive Sunn's;  adding a 1200S w/6-10" cabinet to the group.   If you can't dance, I'll at least make you shake.

I may be interested in buying your 2000S.  Could you tell me what city you live in?  Thanks.
