Difference between older and not quite as old Coliseums?

Has anyone had the opportunity to A/B older Coliseums with later models? Any difference in tone?

I don't know what the tonal difference is. John Entwistle used the old ones. However, I think the later versions had more features.  The Coliseum manual goes into some of that. I believe also that for the later ones, they eliminated the need for slave amps and made it so you can use one as a slave amp or with a slave amp.
