215 cabinet
« on: June 11, 2006, 02:53:28 pm »
I just got a 215b cabinet off of ebay, and as of right now i dont have any head around to test it with, so used this small practice amp that had an 8 ohm line out. Now, the cabinet is 4 ohms and when i play through this it starts vibrating and buzzing alot at low frequencies. Does anyone know if this is because of the ohm mismatch, or if it is because the cabinet is messed up? Thanks alot.

Even if there are other problems, the ohm mismatch is definitely one of them.
It's best to match them, but otherwise, make sure the cab's ohms are higher than that of the head you're using.  Failure to do so can/will seriously damage the head.
