Anyone have gain problems with their model t?

I know its not a high gain head but, Im getting hardly any.  Theres a real slight distortion when i crank both gains, but not enough to run without a pedal...I mean Im not looking for extreme death metal or anything like that just a really sweet punk/hardcore/stoner rock/doom sound.  Any else have a hard time playing those types with a model t?  One other thing, when I try my big muff (american) with it if i turn the drive up past about 8 o'clock I feedback.  Any thoughts?  I really want to keep this head and need some help people!

Very few of the doom bands using Model T's get their distortion just from the head. Greg Anderson used a ProCo Rat for his drive.

You might want to check to make sure you have real 12AX7/7025 tubes in the first two tube locations. (Yes, there are counterfeits being marked and sold as 12AX7s... usually 12AT7s. But if you didn't put the tubes in yourself and they came with the amp it's always good to make sure)

If you don't have the metal shields on the 12AX7s, then the amp will squeal - although I don't know if the feedback you're getting is the amp as opposed to the pedal.

the amp doesnt squeel...as a matter of fact it hardly feeds back at all.  I think the fact that I was using an emg 81 was one of my problems...way to high output.  I putting my dimarzio back in.
