Sunn SPL 215B
« on: December 02, 2006, 05:10:54 pm »
I picked up my first piece of sunn gear recently,  a Sunn SPL 215B recently to go with my Traynor YBA200, 200 watt all tube head.  I'm getting a lot of speaker distortion when I add any significant amount of low end.  Speaker farting might be a good way to describe it.  Has anyone out there had any experience with these cabinets?  I'm assuming its from the 80's as it has the red logo.  The original speakers are still sealed inside the cabinet, and it has a vent down the side.  Also, I can see the remnants of some long gone insulation, could this be part of my problem?
Thanks for any insight.

Not sure what you mean about insulation, but that sounds to me like it could be a problem with the speakers (might be going bad?).
