2000S cabinet?
« on: December 07, 2006, 09:58:23 pm »
Is this a 2000S cab.?looking at the width compared to the head it appears to be wider than a 200S cab.
for some reason the seller thinks it is from 1980!What year did they stop making the 2000S?
I know it is very rough but I am considering this cab if it is a 2000!

I think you are correct. Load it with JBL D140F drivers, and you have a 2000S cabinet.

I thought so! It looks quite a mess,The seller said he would ship without the speakers which should help with the cost!

Not so.  Dimensions of the package factor into the shipping equation - it not just a weight issue.

I recently shipped off a Parker Fly guitar - easily less than 10 pounds including the gig bag - but packing turned the overall dimensions into an "oversize 2", and a package of that dimension ships for a minimum weight of 70 pounds!!

Reality can be stranger than fiction.

It’s definitely a 2000S cab. It appears to have the logo and the grill cloth frame, so if the tolex is decent it wouldn’t take much (aside from a pair of D140’s) to restore it.
Shipping is another matter altogether. I haven’t found a delivery service who would even ship a 2000S cab by conventional delivery.
Check the shipping restrictions with the delivery service you plan to use, but at 48” X 30” X 15” (unpackaged) and around 200lbs crated it needs to be strapped to a pallet and shipped freight (Commercial carrier, loading dock to loading dock).
Kind of a pain, and expensive, but worth the results!
