Series or paralell

Ok guys,
     Are cabinets usually wired in series or paralell, and if I hook to the outlet jack on one cabinet to the inlet of another cabinet am I hooking them in series or paralell?  If the cabinets are wired in paralell then the speakers between the two cabinets would either be series paralell or straight series.  Am I making sense?  I have two 500W yamahas and two 500 watt mackies and I want a good amp to push them in a pa and mixer system.  Did Sunn make anything that would work for this?  I would assume I would need about a 2000 watt amp to push the 500watt speakers at full capacity if the cabinets are 8 ohm cabs.  However if they are connected in paralell then it would only take about 1000 Watts because two 8 ohm loads in paralell would give a 4 ohn load right?  Where if they were in series it would give me a 16 ohm load and I would need about a 4000 watt amp.  Any thoughts? :-o

If you're talking about daisy chaining, assume parallel unless it is specifically noted that a jack is a  series out.

Assuming paralell makes a lot of sense.  Is therre a sun power amp that might work for this application?
