Hmm, if it were only 100 watts, would it still be able to run 2 JBL towers and a 2 floor monitors on one side?  That's what he told me he was running through it, but he didn't say how many watts they were, all he said is that it was extremely loud.

Well, Isaac did say he was guessing.  :-D

Consuming 1200 watts of AC power to only put out 100 watts per side - 200 total would be awfully inefficient. Solid state equipment is typically 75 to 80 percent efficient depending on the design. My guess would be 350-400 watts per side.

Could be, but there's also the mixer, EQ and meters, all of which consume power. Still, as you said, it was just a guess.

MatrixClaw, the number of cabinets that can be run off a given amp has nothing to do with the amount of power the amp puts out, but rather the minimum impedance it can handle. More speakers gets things louder lots faster than more power does.

Most of the EQs and meters are either extremely low power or passive circuits.  You most likely have the pre driving through a passive EQ section and a fader, maybe another pre stage before the fader.
