We just had a jam here in southeast Michigan .....organized by one of those other musical instrument company named discussion forums. I won't mention the specifics...I heard there was some bad blood between this forum and that one a while ago.....and I do use the un-named companies bass.

I really wanted to bring my 200S and 2X15 bottom....but the venue has a narrow stairway to the second floor...and as I mentioned in a previous post...I am ....old..er. I wonder how it would have sounded....maybe next one I will enlist my son to act as a roadie for me and then we'll know. Instead, this time, I brought my Nemesis 57 lb brick. It sounded great....but I longed for my Sunn.

If you happen to be in the Detroit area and are interested in getting together with a great bunch of folks and having some fun....we have another one planned in September or so....and yes....this is hype!

I think I may know who it was. There is a guy with dreads who does too much of that potent smoke you were talking about and he likes to play lead bass all the time, plays an active bass,  and likes solid state only. Theres another guy who is bald and probably under 40 who is very picky too. Most of the rest down there like old school tube bass sounds though.

IIRC, the objection was that it had too much in the way of highs. I don't think I ever heard anyone say D140's were too trebly before.

Well I can see that as I sometimes think my 200S does have too much highs, but I just turn the treble control down. You would think they might have thought of that too. Maybe they might like my 2000S better? Although I haven't rebuilt that yet so maybe not.

Lately, I tend to run mine flat, tone controls at zero. They might have cut the treble on the basses, though.
