410 SR speaker cabs for guitar?

i would like to know if they would work without shelling out the money first

A speaker is a speaker is a speaker. It will work for any amplifier. How is sounds and is it right for you depends on how much power you put into it, what kind of sound you are looking for, how much it costs, etc. That said, there are not a lot of guitarist I have known or seen that use a 4X10 cabinet. Bassests use them because of the weight, size and the amount of cone area for the same. I'll stick to my 15" thank you very much.

Can you try it out before buying it?

I have a 410 cab, love it for bass, tight and punchy response, again it is what you want for your sound that matters.  I've tried my guitar into it through my 200s, sounds like crap, warmed over.  the 200s into a guitar cab ie, marshall 212, sounds great.  the cab and the speaker do dictate the sound.  a speaker is a speaker is true and an amp is an amp but some speakers and some amps work better and for that matter are designed for certain instruments

Hope nobody tells those users they ain't supposed to sound good. At least not without decent get away room!!

No one said they wouldn't sound good. The only negative comments so far have been that it might not work for what he wants. That's true of every piece of equipment.
