4x10 impedance question

   Hello all... I've got a 4x10 cab, sparkle grill with the Sunn logo in the middle. It's loaded with 108g transducers and I'm not sure how it's wired. My understanding is that the standard wiring for these cabs is in parallel, and as such I'd have a 2 ohm load coming out of this cab -- right? The thing is, I've read -- I think somewhere on this forum -- that these 4x10 cabs are 8 ohms (which would be great for the Sonic 2 head I have). Any thoughts? Am I screwing up the calculation somehow? Many thanks!

most all cabs with four speakers are wired in what's called series-parallel, which means that two speakers each are wired in parallel and then the two sets are wired together in series, which would make four 8 ohm speakers into an 8 ohm cab.


celestion's website has some wiring diagrams of series-parallel if you need some help visualizing what it looks like.

brilliant... that makes lots of sense. i think i ended up being confused with regards to using multiple cabinets with one head... anyway, series-parallel seems like the answer. thanks!
