Sunn cab. combos
« on: December 26, 2007, 10:37:56 am »
Would it be safe to run my Concert Bass head through my 312S cab. 6 ohm and
my 115 cab. (8ohm)? I do have a Concert Slave I could use but I would like to
use only the one head to keep the stack from being too tall!!!

The best thing to do would be get a 16 ohm speaker for the 115 cab. That would bring the total load to 4 ohms. If the 115 is 8 ohms the total load would be 3.2 ohms, probably too low for a Concert amp at high volume.

The 15" is an original D140 and sounds great!!!
When I use the 312 cab. I rarely run the volume past 4 or 5
would that be likely to hurt the amp if I added the 15?

Check the back of the D140. If it says D140-6, it is 16 ohms.

I thought the early Concert Bass's wanted 4 ohms while the later ones could handle 2 ohms without difficulty. That being said, I would think at 4 or 5 volume level, there should be no problem...if you have a later Concert Bass.
