dc10bass; are you going to leave the bottom port in? What speakers are you thinking about using?
I ask because the newer 215 cabinets have been designed using modern T&S parameters and modeling techniques as opposed to the older cabinets which were designed for size more than anything else. I would put some thought and research into the speakers I would use with the Fender era cabinet.
Then again...go for it and let us know how it turns out. Some of the most fun I have had has been trying new configurations, speakers, cabinets and amps together and seeing what they sound like.
Well, I was going to remove the bottom port...
My logic was that the dimensions for a sunn 3x12 cab is;
H 42.5
W 24
D 15
...and a "Fender" Sunn 2x15 is;
H 41
W 25.5
D 17
To me, it seems so close that it would work.
"basiklybass", You build speaker cabs, correct? What are your thoughts?
I was planning on using the same Celestion speakers that are in the "Fender" Sunn 4x12 cabs.
I already have two 4x12 cabs and like how they sound... I'm using a Sunn Coliseum Lead into them.
I already have a Sunn Coliseum Bass going into two vintage Sunn 1x18 cabs.
...Yes, I'm building an early to mid 70's Entwistle Sunn wall of Thunder. I'm in a WHO tribute band out of Detroit.
So far, it sounds AWESOME!
I already have the Coliseum 880, just need two 3x12 cabs.
