What cabinet goes great with the SUNN sceptre?

Anyone have suggests to what cabs would go great with the Sceptre? I just buy a 69' head. Also what kinds of O/ds are we using out there?

Ok..when your 1969 sceptre head was sod..it was coupled with a cab that had 4 ..12" speakers in it..the cad size was 40 inches tall...24 inches wide and 15 inches deep..it was really the standard size cab sunn used to put different size speakers in for what ever they were using for a head...the cab size was the same for the 200s 100s , sentura II ..it was the work horse cab and they were built like a tank. you might find one on ebay. evry once in a while a sunn cab will show up...if it isn't a 4x12 cab just get one with the two 15's in it ..it will hold the head up off the floor real nice...excuse my type o's   enjoy your sunn amp....smiles..Bob from mass,

Yep I agree with you guys....I have a 1968-69 Sceptre that is nearly mint, and it came with a 4x12 Sunn setup, with the  footpedal too. It sounds like any other $3000.00 amp (played through melted butter), but is tremendously loud and clear, hard to distort, and rather reliable. I haven't gigged it but I plan to do so. Just afraid to get it damaged or stolen. It costs $135.00 to get the head retubed.

My error ---actually my Sceptre is a 1968. It originally came with a 4x12 cab similar to the 200s using a British style 'staggered' configuration.

dear lokibleed...just stay on top of ebay...set up the site...just punch in on your favorites...sunn amps only...and it will bring up the ebau page , just with sunn stuff that's being auctioned at the time....as the same with fender amps..jbl speakers etc..it compresses just the stuff your looking for..now more offen than not...i seen a couple of the 4x12 cabs on there...just recently....or...6x10....which ever one you can get will just be perfect for you head....what ever you spend...it will probably be worth it....hey ! think of all the money you shot out the window on dumb stuff year after year...if you can get a cab...reguardless of the price...it will be worth it to have a sunn cab under the head....now....go shopping.....smiles...Bob from mass

Was that a Sunn 115 cabinet? I'd really like to get a Sunn 115S, or the cabinet that came with the Sonic I and Sonic I-40.

I'm a long way from the Hudson Valley. I'm in Oregon's Willamette Valley. Not far from Sunn's original home, in fact. I visited the factory when it was still in Tualatin, and have met Conrad Sundholm once.

Well, he was pleased to meet me, if only because of the nearly mint 200S cabinet I brought with me for him to measure. The frequency response was nearly ruler flat from about 50Hz to 2KHz.

Yah that was a fun day Isaac! My little 1x15 that is kind of a clone of the Sunn 2x15 but a bit smaller has almost the same response as your 2x15. Yours goes just a tad lower and mine goes higher now with the 5's and a crossover network that Conrad voiced that I added. The D140's sound sweeter than the E140 that I'm using though.

I've actually had some people ask about bringing in your 200S cabinet with my 200S head again down at the jam.
