Additional pictures for the museum
« on: March 12, 2008, 12:33:02 am »
Where do we send pics of Sunn gear to put in the museum?  I have a 415m that I'd be more than happy to take pics of for the ever curious.  I also can get some pics of a 160SB that I sold to a friend.  Tell me where, and I'll do it.

You can always just post them on this thread by using the additional option button on the lower left  when you reply. There has been discussion here before about how to and who posts and manages the museum. As far as I remember, there was no satisfactory answer. In fact a few folks were frustrated and gave up.

So anyone? Isaac? SoundmasterG? T-Boy? To whom and how do we submit pictures, schematics, and such for inclusion in the museum and records?

Yeah, it's a 4x15 (415M).  Dimensions are 40 x 26 x 18.5.  The original owner said that he wasn't sure how they got 4 15s in there but had never taken the grill off to take a look.  I suppose this is the first time the grill has been off of the cab.

It would be great if someone could figure this out.  Not just to post stuff that isn't in there,  but the condition of some of the amps in the museum photos  are pretty disgraceful.  Many, many of us have much better, cleaner....all around better conditioned exasmples that could be posted instead of the rusty hulks in there.  I'm sure that when it was started, the originator(s) used what they had available and I intend no insult to them & don't mean to denigrate their efforts in any way.   To the contrary,  I commend the establishment of the museum AND this website.
Also,  the brochure/catalogue/schematic files are woefully inadequate in light of the references to catalogues and other documents made on this sight and also what I see available for sale on E-Bay.

The 410S is 24"x24", the 412S is 30"x30".

I don't know how to manage the Museum, etc., and I don't think any of the mods do.

I do know this though; those of us who were around a couple of years ago remember that this site was within a whisker of going away. Sunn couldn't keep it up anymore, and Tboy came in and saved the day at the last second.
Out of the kindness of his heart; he got no money, gets no assistance from the forum members. No "subscriptions", no advertising, no donations; he has taken up the torch because he wanted to.

So... If he doesn't have time or plain just doesn't want to hassle with updating the museum, brochures, catalog, etc. page; well, I for one am just grateful that he has single handedly taken on the task of just keeping the site alive.

I've worked in digital marketing/web development for 15 years, I'd be happy to help out in updating the site.

I'd gladly make donations to the site to keep it up and going. It would break my heart to see it fade away. There's way too much valuable information here for it to be lost.

So, if there's no way that we can mess around with the museum part of the site ... is there any way that we can create a new one? We could even create a Sunn Photobucket page just for the museum to help cut down on bandwidth costs and at least host some better/higher resolution photos of these amplifiers, cabs, ect. Who has access to the core part of the website anyways? Is it Tboy?

I would like to reiterate part of what I posted earlier:

"I'm sure that when it was started, the originator(s) used what they had available and I intend no insult to them & don't mean to denigrate their efforts in any way.   To the contrary,  I commend the establishment of the museum AND this website."

Maybe what I posted before read more harshly critical then I intended it to.  I am not unappreciative of what IS on the site.  But,  when I think of someone visiting this website to check out what all the buzz about Sunn amps is all about for instance,  the examples of the great Sunn Amps that they find could be the wonderful, clean, kept and cared for examples that I see posted on practically a daily basis.

What I am reading here is that there are those that appreciate the site enough and have enough pride in being Sunn owners/collectors etc.  that they would like to improve and build up the site,  not out of disrespect for what  IS  here,  but more out of love of the Sunn brand and a desire to see the Sunn world that is here continued and expanded.

I wish I had the computer skills and know-how to make sure that someone is here to pick up the torch the next time it flickers.  Well, I don't have them myself and so I am somewhat fearful at the prospect that there won't be anyone next time.  I would like to see at least a few that are knowledgeable enough and interested enough to help improve/Up-Date continue and expand the site have the tools/keys/access that would be required to do so.

Hope my mini rant is taken in the spirit that I intend it.
