mr. sunn..my catalogs date the intro of the 2000s in 1968..they built them in 69, 70, and i'am not sure in 71...i don't have a 71 catalog...now...my 72 catalog shows the 2000s name being changed to the 350 b...but just wait a minute because they'll be some one else on the sunn site with a 71 catalog and he will give you a definetive answer....so, hold on...the answer is coming.....smiles...Bob from mass.

I think that they started to design the 2000s in 67 but it went to market in 68 and they added a bass boost switch but im not sure when, I have a 1969 and a 1972. does anyone know how many of them they made?

The '68 catalog doesn't show a bass boost, but the '69 catalog does.
I don't think they made a whole bunch of them, they were serious money; a full 2000S rig in '69 cost the same as a new Ford Maverick did.
In todays dollars; $11,720
The 2000S was mostly for pro players.
Pro players with roadies, moving a 2000S with a pair of cabinets is a back breaker.

i'd rather of had the amp than the ,  ah hummm ford....they added the bass switch after 5-10-69..so there is somewhat of a time line....i have a 69 and a 70 and they have the switches of course....now...ok gang....did sunn still make the 2000s in 1971 ?   or did it go with the name change to the 350 B......like i stated in my first post...my 72 catalog has it as the 350B....SMILES...BOB from mass.

The 1000 series with 2 cabs being back breakers? Why I can remember ......sorry...

Nuthin' compared to a B3 and a Lawrence Electric Piano....and all the other stuff we hauled around way back when....the 2 15 cabinets were actually easy to move, they weighed a lot but the size was just right for 2 guys to carry them. Much easier than Marshalls.

I believe this was 1973...or maybe 4

Man, is that you in that pic? '73 or '74? You are freekin' old, dude!  :-o

Those are the little cabs, the 1000 series cabs are a lot bigger. Here's a pic that I posted on another thread the other day that illustrates the difference.
I can still dead lift a 200S cab into a van without help. I might be able to squat a 2000S cab into a van, but I ain't gonna find out. Too awkward and too heavy, lean it and slide it in, or get help!

But I digress...
Although I have a '72 catalog showing the 2000S renamed as the 350b, I also have a 2000S with a 1972 grease pencil date on the chassis.
Well, I think so anyway, it's been a couple of years since I've been in it, but that's what I remember.
How about that?

I'm with you on the B3, I roadied for a band in the 70's that had a B3 (not a cutdown, either), 3rd floor rehearsal studio, and no elevator.
The easiest way to get it up and down was a FIRE ESCAPE.
Two or three times a week, pure hell

By the way, I hope you know I'm kidding you about the old thing! I was old enough to vote when that picture of yours was taken.

Not me, Marshall Crenshaw.

Oops, your right, we had a pile of 200 and 1100S cabinets....along with Marshalls, Altec A7's, twins, over the years a pile of stuff....and it was all moved same as you , three four times a week until we started playing bars..then only twice a week.

Hi,

I got a 350B, the "teststicker" says 17. April 1973. The chassis is from the 1000S, it got an extra metal plate with the 350B sign on it, no overwritten 2000S or anything. Hell knows where they got this unsexy name 350B from. 2000s, jeah, that does sound like power, but 350B  :-P.

Greetings

Oliver
