Sunn Coliseum Keyboard amp???
« on: March 25, 2008, 11:04:36 pm »
So in efforts to complete something of a mega bass rig out of those two 105s i got.  I found someone on the local cragislist that offers a sunn coliseum keyboard amp.  I've never heard of one that was made solely for keyboards?  anyone shed some light on this?  I  called the guy and he didn't know that much about it except "yeah man i played it all through it, guitar , bass, live in the studio, sounds great man".
Hes asking 200 so I weary to say the least.

there was a coliseum keyboard series as well as a concert I believe; it was the red and black era solid state heads and it should have three channels with expression pedal inputs on it that identify it(aside from the word "keyboard" on the front) as the keyboard amp series.

it should be fine for bass though, obviously being designed for keyboards it will be really clean sounding.

I'm old enough to say I bought one in Seattle in 1976 new. It was I think 150 watts. It was'nt as strong as I wanted. No running into PAs back then. I ran it into 2 412 cabinets. I was using a Rhodes at the time, and it was not very strong on output.

The Keyboard Coliseum has an additional 4-channel passive preamp submixer before the normal preamp. It features 1/4" phone input jacks, a volume and a tone control on each channel. The main amp (pre and power amp) is exactly the same as a coliseum bass amp. Actually, pretty cool design for the time. Very powerful amp (300 watts RMS @ 2 Ohm).
