sunn model a 2-12

there is no information that i can find on this amplifier. Does anyone know when they were made, the years,  the value, what kind of speakers bla bla bla.... :? :? :?

Love to have one (but where would I put it?).

It's Sunn's version of (answer to?) Fender's Twin Reverb. IIRC, the preamp is similar to that of the original Model T, with the addition of reverb. The power amp is Sunn's traditional 2x6550 60 watt amp. Two 12" Sunn Transducers. I seem to recall seeing it in the 1974 catalog, but it's not in the 1979 catalog.

Of course, I could be wrong.

What do you want to know?  I thought the A212 was solid state, but Issac seems to be familiar with that specific amp, and I think everything about the pre and power amp stages involved are here, including the schematics.
The Model T pre amp has been discussed in several threads, and the 2 X 6550 info can be found under a search for 100S, 200S, Sceptre, etc. Sunn used the same circuits extensively for several diferent amps, pretty much identical schematics.

If you want pricing info, check eBay completed items.
If it's for sale, put a price on it and post it in classifieds on this site, or put it up on eBay if you want bids.

I have one of these as well but have had a really hard time finding anything out about it. I know mine was tested 10-21-1974 but everything else is the same as has been said. Two 12" transducers, but on mine one is 40 watts and the other is 60 watts. Also, one speaker is 16 ohms and the other has a handwritten sticker that says 8 ohms, so I don't know. I run a '79 concert lead through it at 4 ohms and into a 4 ohm cab and haven't had any trouble at all. When I got it I had to install a second input jack and rewire some stuff so I could hook it up to an external cabinet, but there were holes cut out already for me (almost like it's an expected modification) covered with little metal caps..

but, I've never read anything about the caps on the chassis. Did yours come with the 1st input empty/covered and the 2nd hooked up to the speakers inside?

There was also an Alpha 212 which was solid state. I have confused them myself. Perhaps you are, too.

my buddy has one of these(A212 combo) that is...h has some bad pots and needs some. Anyone out there know where he could get some? He said he will pay...message me back and let me know if anyone has ANY leads on pots for this beast!

There was also an Alpha 212 which was solid state. I have confused them myself. Perhaps you are, too.

You're right, I believe I am confusing it with the Alpha. I'd still like to see a pic to get an idea of what it's all about, it sounds like a nice piece! When was it manufactured?

Pots are pots. He should be able to replace them at any decent electronics supply store.

yeah, i hear ya...the pots he needs look A LOT like the one's in beta series and have posts that connect to the board directly(not with wire).

Which one? I'll tell you, I really don't know much about the Alphas. I think they came, logically, before the Betas.a
