Sunn Concert Lead with Orange PPC212 cab
« on: July 17, 2008, 03:57:43 am »
I currently own a Sunn Concert Lead head that has 150w 4ohm output and am would really like to use it with an Orange 16ohm cab. I imagine this might require a rewire, running the 2 8ohm speakers in parallel.

Just wondering what the general opinion of the forum is regarding rewiring and does it have detrimental effects?

Am hoping it can work as i imagine it would be an awesome combo

Thanks

You could run it as a 16 ohm cab, but you Concert's output would be seriously restricted. I don't know of any problems with parallel wiring, in fact it's my preferred method, and it's not like you can't change it back!
Go for it and let us know how it sounds.

I currently run my Concert Lead thru a 16 ohm cab and, while I do lose a noticable amount of volume, it will never be a problem in the clubs I play. Further, the 16 ohm cab sounds better than 4 and 8 ohm cabs I've used with it.
