Hi there,it sounds like maybe one of your preamp tubes could be noisey, even though it's been replaced. It might also be the pins in the sockets, they could be tarnished or loose fitting,Hope this is of some help, good luck Mel.

thats why those model t's come with a lovely thing called a hum balance. To use it, you need a plastic screwdriver. Once you get that, take off the back panel thinger. Then on the inside, there should be a tiny little hole in between the powertubes nearest you called "hum balance", take note of it. Plug in a patch cable, and let it hang, but dont let the tip touch anything or you'll get an earful. Next turn on your model t, and turn EVERYTHING to 10. It will be noisey. Now stick your plastic screwdriver into the hum balance, and turn until the noise is reduced. If this doesnt work, its your tubes.

I've never owned a Model T, so I'm not familiar with it's specific controls. It has a what? A "hum balance"? You don't mean "bias pot" do you? :?

If you are indeed referencing the bias pot, you do what with it?

it is most definately called a hum balance, on the chassis a few inches away from the bias pot. And you do exactly what i said. Plug a cable in, turn everything to 10, and turn the hum balance until the hum goes away.

heres a picture of it

Isn't that actually the bias balance between the pairs of output tubes?
