sunn 2000s project (head, speaker, cab)

Hey all,
I just bought a project 2000s head yesterday and I'm eagerly awaiting its arrival.  I'll have to fix that up naturally but I'm thinking ahead to when I'm gonna need a cab.  I'd like to get a matching 2000s cab but having owned them in the past I know they're fairly rare.  I also know that it'd be easy to have a replica made (seen it advertised on here).  So if I needed to have a replica made I'm thinking of loading it with weber neo mag 15 speakers.  I've seen some discussion on here but I'm wondering specific opinions on these.  I guess my aim is to get close to the sound of the d140f without the huge pricetag.  Here's a link: http://taweber.powweb.com/weber/

I'm looking for 4 control knobs, the handle and silver end pieces for it, and the 8 corner pieces for the 2000s.  I wonder if anybody has any spares!?!?!  I'd also be interested in a good looking faceplate but know that that's probably a longshot.

The former owner also tells me that one of the transformers is probably bad.  Transformers in my opinion have a lot to do with the overall sound of the amp so I"d like to keep them original or close to...I don't want teh $400 mercury magnetics clone output because its $400!  yikes!  Anybody ever had a tranformer rewound?

this is the wrong transformer for you, I used one in a 200s.   it was a powerT.  anyway, they may have an output for a 2000s.  check it out. they sound good and are less than $400!

Anyway, I contacted a guy about rewinding the transformer should it need it and it seems like the direction to go. 
His name is Gary and he runs Transformer Rewind Service out in Maine.  I'm pretty impressed with his description of his process so far.  Anybody every done anything like this?

I'm also now thinking about cleaning up the chassis somehow...sandblast and then clearcoat maybe?!?!  Anyone ever do anything like this?

  Hi there,all I've ever used to clean really dirty chassis' is Carbourater Gunk cleaner.It'll bring the metal back to new,(unless it's rusty) but it will eat plastic,paint,silkscreen,etc.You have to be careful,spray it on a rag,not the amp,and rub it onto the chassis,wash off after.Hope this is of some help,good luck,Mel.

I've only used Mercury Magnetics, they do great work but they aren't cheap.
I've used Mean Green to clean up old chassis, it works pretty good, I'll bet the carb cleaner would work great.

I'll keep the chassis cleanup stuff in mind when it arrives.  I think there's not very much rust based on the pics (I'll receive the amp Friday).  So I guess I'll take that one at a time.  Mercury magnetics are great transformers by and large but a bit pricey.  As far as I know both one or none of the transformers could be bad.  The previous owner got it in a package with a mint 2000s...same old story...didn't get around to fixing it, so now I bought it off him.  That said he seemed to remember the previous owner saying something about a bad transformer.  Based on my experience I'd say its easier to throw an output transformer so that's my bet.  I'm gonna send him both though just to check out.  He charges $30 to check them out and $185 for a rewind.  He'll also vaccum seal them for $20.  ON the plus side he'll paint them and seal them all in the $185 so that's a nice touch.  He seems great so I'll let you know how it goes.  One issue is that his back log is 6-8 weeks.  To be honest though I'm just trying to get out in front of this project and gather parts because I'm working on a hammond organ, a binson echorec, and a spatial sound project that all need to get done before this.  So the back log doesn't really effect me that much.  Haven't really heard anything on those speakers...somebody has to have tried them...
